Here`s what people are saying about The Lord Nelson
Visited here with friends for lunch. Good range of beers on display. Standard lunch menu. Good selection covering all tastes.
Our party chose the pubs own beef and ale pie, and fish and chips. Good service and food arrived promptly. Very tasty.
Well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.

Picked the Lord Nelson as a midway point to meet-up have some lunch and exchange Christmas presents.
Having never set foot in the Lord Nelson or Sutton on Trent before it was a pleasant surprise to be made most welcome. Food was very good and it was an ideal place to meet up and have a chat.
We will certainly pay them another visit if we are in the area again

We came yesterday for a roast and it was delicious! The portion size was very generous as was the variety of veg. All was cooked to perfection. Every meal we've had here has been lovely. My mum, brother and sister-in-law came to stay in February and had a perfect stay. Breakfast was amazing! Staff are lovely and really helpful. The atmosphere is that of a proper vibrant local pub, a rarity these days. Keep doing what you're doing

We loved having dinner downstairs while our little one slept upstairs. the staff were really friendly. We had a balcony outside our room so we could spill out of our room. The pub is really well located for people wanting to stop off on their way North or South on the A1. We stayed in a room in the pub so that our baby monitor worked, but we think you could stay in a stable room and pick up the signal.

First time we have eaten at the Lord Nelson and it was a good experience. Good value well cooked food serviced by friendly relaxed staff. Real fire and ale took the chill of the rain away. Recommend - 5 stars

Amazing local pub, just as one should be, informal bar area, excellently kept real ales, wide selection of drinks- and a great atmosphere to boot. Then the food, definitely beyond local pub grub although that can be catered for. Extensive menu, including light bites, with fantastic local fresh specials board. For my birthday meal I had scallops (cooked beautifully) followed by pink lamb then homemade pear & blackberry frangipane. Utterly faultless & delicious. Local gems of pubs like this - use 'em or lose 'em.

We stayed in the stable room which was nice, with comfy beds and lovely bathroom. The food was nice and the breakfast was really good with local sausages. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again. Plus there's a lovely garden and play area.

I have lunch here regularly twice a week, and can honestly say it is the Best Place in this area! The food is superb. Can really recommend the Fish dishes from the Specials' board! But you have to act fast- they change weekly, but are truly scrumptious!

The team at The Nelson were great - hosting my father's 90th birthday party. Everyone commented on both the quality and quantity of the food. The staff were superb at both help with pre-planning for the event and the lovely family breakfast we enjoyed the next day.

My daughter had a fantastic 5th birthday party here!! I asked at very short notice and Sally and Martin couldn't do enough for us. So grateful for everything - they made the party stress free, so organised and all staff are brill! Party food was great and so was the atmosphere. Absolutely outstanding many thanks!!

I have 4 children and was delighted that this wonderful pub could accommodate us in the Blacksmiths suite without us being put in separate rooms. Very clean, comfy beds (3 double beds and one single bed!!) so all the kids slept really well. Food is delicious & the prices were reasonable & good choice on local bitters. We happened to stay on quiz night and were warmly welcomed by the landlord Martin who encouraged us to join in the quiz. The staff were lovely and my husband enjoyed the Full Nelson breakfast in the morning. We will definitely return next time we are in the area!!

I have always loved The Lord Nelson but under the new management there is that little something extra that makes it an absolute delight to visit. I have the joy of having it as my local. I visit regularly & am always impressed with the food, range of alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks & the wonderfully warm greeting from ALL the staff.

Visited the Lord Nelson for a family party and had a fantastic time. The party was in the function room at the back of the pub which is lovely and is next to the kids area which was ideal for the
14 kids that we had at the party!
The food was really lovely and loads of it! Really friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. Wish it was my local but can really recommend it for functions or family get togethers.
